  • Left Shin

    Left Shin

The boot armor is attached via elastic so that it can flex/move with me when I walk. Knee is also attached with elastic so that it will bend if I move in a way that it doesn't love.

    Left shin, inside

Clearly marked L so that I don't get dressed wrong! The elastic straps between shin and knee keep it in place while giving it some wiggle room if it gets pushed on too hard.

  • Elastic hinge

    Elastic hinge

the shin armor has a tab and slot system to keep it aligned. the elastic hinge on the outside of the leg lets me flex it to get my leg in. a velcro strap on the inside is accessible when i'm wearing it, and lets me secure it.

  • Chest armor

    Chest armor

the upper and lower chest sections are connected with elastic so that they can flex with me when i move. the lower ab is attached to the upper section with nylon webbing, and has velcro to connect it to the inside of the belt, so that it doesn't pop out on me.

    straps, interior

the leather straps velcro down to the backplate. they are attached to the plastic shoulder straps, which connect to the armor via webbing.

  • chest clips

    chest clips

these clips connect the chest plate to the harness. the release buttons are positioned so that it is easily removed when i'm wearing it.

  • side straps

    side straps

these also connect to the harness, to keep the chest from flapping.

  • backplate

    backplate

pretty unexciting. but, were i to wear it without the jetpack, the backplate is properly finished.

  • harness front

    harness front

straps wrap around my body and secure to the velcro on the harness.

  • shoulder straps

    shoulder straps

the shoulder bells connect to these straps. the side release buckles are mounted differently for the left and right sides, so that it's impossible to put the shoulders on wrong.

  • harness back

    harness back

the backplate has threaded brass inserts mounted in it. the harness screws into those to secure the jetpack. i have pulled on this assembly VERY hard with no give.

  • thigh

    thigh

the shape of the thighs makes it hard to shoot without glare somewhere. they are thighs... nothing super thrilling

  • rear is styrene

    rear is styrene

i didn't use the printed rear thighs. instead i used them as templates to make the parts out of styrene. why? it is thinner, which means less rubbing when you walk.

  • styrene meets print

    styrene meets print

i epoxied the styrene to the print, and reinforced with nylon webbing and e6000

  • clips for the shorts

    clips for the shorts

these clips connect to straps in the shorts, so that the thighs are held up with no visible strapping.

  • forearm

  • this forearm greeblie is bound to break. i have a design for a better one, i just need to print it.

the leather section has padding on the inside to help keep from scraping up the paint on the armor. the strap keeper is on the back of the body.

  • 3d printed buckle

    3d printed buckle

the buckle is printed... pla+, 100% infill. should be plenty sturdy.

    thigh2

like the first thigh, i was struggling to get a shot that wasn't washed out by glare. even on an overcast day they weren't shooting well.

  • note that the model is textured

note that the model is textured

the model is textured, which is why the light is reflecting oddly. battle damage i guess?
