Today was a fun day… we marched in the Arlington MA Patriot’s Day parade, our first time at that particular event.

It was a very tame crowd. Families, kids, the usual. After St. Pat’s any parade where sobriety is the norm comes as a surprise.

I’d say there were around 20 of us. A small group for a parade, but it was a smallish parade, so it worked. With R2-D2 and the landspeeder it was a good size!

It was my first time out with the latest set of armor revisions. The new belly armor looks good, though I need to adjust the fit a bit more still. I’m trimming little bits as I go, rather than cutting too much.

There will be tons of pics coming soon. I’m sure I’ll post again for that!

I’ve been bad about blogging. Last Friday I met Joss. No meaningful conversation or anything, but I do have a “Happy Anniversary Jodi and Brian” autograph from him. So that’s pretty sweet.

I wanted to have him sign our cats, but Jodi was lame and thought that was a bad plan.

Related, we’re caught up on Dollhouse now. It took some time, but I finally got into it. And proving how closely visuals and personality are tied to me, my fanboy crush on Eliza Dushku is directly related to how much I like the character she’s playing. Blank Slate Echo? Not hot. Kung Fu bad ass echo? Mreow!

Work has been busy/frustrating. We have some technical issues that would really be easy to solve… with about $20K of new hardware. I’m about $19.8K short of that in my budget, so the crappy hacks are flowing.

We have a parade this Sunday in Arlington. You should go. Yup, you too. I’ve just about finished up my new plastic holsters for Rex. BIG improvement over the fiberglass ones I’ve been wearing. It’s like a great weight has been lifted from my hip bones.

I think that’s about it for me for the last week. It’s Friday in a little while. Then the weekend again. No work Monday, and soon… soon it is Italy time!

How often do you reboot the server? We have a fairly old and underpowered Exchange 2003 box that we’re trying to limp along with.

The disk performance is terrible, and we know that.

It also seems like there are frequently sessions that just get abandoned… they never get disconnected and never die.

Bouncing the box makes it better for a day or two, then it gets slow again.

How absurd is it to just schedule reboots every 2-3 days?

Today was a scary, scary Easter… We went on a walk around Cambridge before dinner, and were shocked at what we saw!

ZOMBIES!!!

Having seen a number of zombie movies, I knew that I immediately had to take shelter behind a small, unstable plastic barrier!

But soon they caught on!

I made a run for it, but no matter where I went, they followed!

So yeah… today was one of the Boston Zombie Walks… these happen a few times a year. People get together, dress up like zombies, and shamble around a public place relatively unannounced. This one was a walk down Mass Ave from Davis to Harvard.

There were some GREAT undead stumbling around today. I’ve got a ton of pictures in my Flickr account:

Definitely a good time, and a great way to get in the holiday spirit!!

Wow, so today is my 10th wedding anniversary! That’s so crazy… a whole decade of life together, and we still like each other. And in just a couple of weeks we leave for Italy!!!

Tonight we’ll be spending our special evening with our good friend Joss Whedon and a couple of other folks… OK, we’ll be in a theater full of people where he’s speaking. But still, that’s a pretty awesome thing for an anniversary.

A 3 square mile cesspool of idiocy just to the north of Boston, Everett has rapidly spiraled into best place to get in a machete fight in a parking lot. The only thing that rates in this balloon-knot of a city is Everett High School football and the steaknuts that participate in it. Every Saturday in the Fall, Everett Stadium fills to the brim with strung-out high schoolers, soon-to-be-pregnant cheerleaders, and middle-aged failures, who have never quite gotten over that time in ’73 when they could have been state champions if coach had only put them in the game.

Everett is the best place to go if you want Dunkin’ Donuts, a submarine sandwich or a funeral, because there is an outlet for each of those at least every 20 feet. There are other attractions in E-Town too: In the mood for a dirty, trashbag strip club attached to a motel? Head for King Arthurs! Want to drink an $8 Bud surrounded by styrofoam gargoyles from Spencer Gifts? The Crypt is your destination my friend. Are you kind of a dork and want to make one-stop to achieve badassness? You can get a gold chain, a tattoo AND a firearm at Ma-Zel’s on Ferry St (convienently across the street from The Crypt).

Yes, Everett is magical place, where the heroin is cheap and the calzones are hot! Visit now before it’s officially annexed by Brazil.

“Ya dude, I was at The Crypt last night in Everett, MA shooting up in the bathroom, and I was like fuckin’ A, you know? And then I totally did this chick who was passed out next to the stage. Have you seen my machete?”

yay for upgrading to a beta operating system. initial review? flawless install… hardware works, special keys on the laptop work (mute, volume), wireless came right up.

very cool.

why the beta install? scheduled release date for the final is 4/23. i figured it’s pretty close, and this one is supposed to boot faster and deal with wake from sleep better.

Some of you were here for this fine cake.

Allow me to present to you the Jawa/Twilek groupsex cake!

I got a craving for falafel today, so I braved the rain and visited Alexandria Pizza for some hummus, pita and falafel.

Mmmm… very tasty. The falafel is spicier than others I’ve had.
