OS X blogging client that looks to be about what I like.

I’ve never been fond of using the web interface for LJ, and the same holds true for WordPress. From looking at the various Mac clients out there, this one looks the best. But, the Mac is packed right now, and I don’t want to pull it out.
Another step along the path to blogification.
I set up Drivel on my Linux box to post over to my WordPress blog. The wordpress connects to the LJ, and the LJ connects to the Facebook.
I’m not really interested in linking Twitter into all of this. I don’t think I really need to do that, at least this not at the moment.

So, here’s another experiment in Twitter…
I’ll be heading to a wedding in New Orleans on Thursday morning. I’m not sure exactly what our plans will be, but I suspect that in the evening we’ll be out on the town a bit.

In this downtrodden economy, I understand that you, a large company, might not want my money.
Wait?
What?
OK, so a month or so ago, we cancelled our home phone service. We never used the landline, and it saved us around $30 a month to lose it.
But, our FIOS account number was our phone number.
I asked the nice Verizon rep what was going to happen. He said that the account number would remain the same, even though that wasn’t my phone number.
This sounded odd, but OK.
Sure enough, I got a new paper bill with a new account number. I logged in to my online account and saw that it was still linked to the old account.
Call Verizon. Dig through menus. Get lost. Call back. Dig more… wait, wait… SCORE! A person.
“Oh, you need to re-register. Create a new account and you’ll be fine.”
Try that. FAIL. Says my account is invalid.
Call back. See above for the process.
“Oh, the e-center needs to fix that up. Let me transfer you.”
And I get transferred. To an electrician.
*sigh*
Call back. Get the menu thing done faster.
“Oh, sorry, I’ll transfer you. And here’s the number to call the e-center directly.”
FAIL. No hold music, answer, anything. Call the number. Wrong number.
Call back. Repeat.
FINALLY get a helpful person! She walks me through the menus on the web site to pay a bill once without registering an account. This is enough to poke and prod their systems into letting me register an account. Apparently you have to pay at least 1 bill some other way before you can do the online auto pay stuff.
Paid the bill 2 whole days before it started to get late fees.
Can’t set up autopay now though… that part of the site is down. But I can try that again tomorrow.
At least I HAVE an account now…
So looking at the chain of plugins and feeds, I’ve disabled the WordPress facebook plugin. There’s no point to it really, since Facebook pulls in my LJ posts anyway.
No need to post everything twice!
I’ve been working on the wiki a fair bit, so things there are shaping up. I’m getting more familiar with the software, which is good considering that we’re installing it on a much bigger site Real Soon Now.
As a random aside: I think it would be neat if Dreamhost provided a shared memcache server for clients. I should suggest that…
I’m still debating whether or not to work Twitter into all of this. I don’t really think there’s a need for it, but it’s still out there as an option.
I need to get cracking on the Watch City Armory logo, but that’s not likely to happen any time soon. Maybe I’ll do that on the plane to New Orleans.
