All costumes evolve over time. My Boba has gone through a lot of changes in the short time I've had it. From the first picture to the last, nearly every component has been replaced, and I've lost over 30 pounds.
Revision 1
There is a lot wrong here... First, none of the soft parts fit right. I'm one of those people who wears the jeans that are so big they'll fall off without a belt. So when I made my soft parts, I made them the way I wear my clothes. One of the big downsides to that is that I looked about 50 pounds heavier than I really am! Next is the placement of the armor... the chest plates start about 1/2" lower than they should have, and the ab plate is another half inch lower relative to the chest. The result there being that it makes me look very "stubby". Compounding the stubby issue is the fact that the vest should stop right around the bottom of the armor. Since the armor is too spread out, this ultimately means that my vest here is a good 2 inches too long.
Revsion 2
The only change in this one is that I got a new helmet. This is my MSH2, which I spent a LOT more time painting than the first one, and it shows. Otherwise, all armor and clothing issues remain.
Revision 3
This one marks an entirely new suit and vest. These ones were NOT made by me, and as such they fit right! In this version I also improved the weathering on the jet pack and side pouches, and added the US Divers buckle around the waist. Also added in this rev is a back brace under the suit. I found that I was leaning back a lot due to the odd weight of the JP. The brace (from a hardware store - meant for contractors lifting stuff all day) helps support the weight, and remind me to stand up straight.
Revision 4Here you see the new chest, shoulder and knee armor. I'm still using the old collar and backplate at this point.
Revision 5
New helmet, and a variety of gauntlet upgrades: LED, machined aluminum and brass rocket, real MQ-1 keypad, machined darts, hinged opening and a full repaint. Pending upgrades: New collar and backplate, new flight suit, new vest.
Revision 6
New collar and backplate in place. The wookiee scalps have been looped, as opposed to just being thrown over the shoulder. Belt pouches have been shortened a bit. Spats have been resized to fit right. Knee armor straps switched from black to dirtied white. And the Dreaded Boba Thong has been added!
Revision 7
New shoulder studs, wookiee braids and flight suit. The next update should be new gauntlets.
Revision 8
New gauntlets are in place.
Revision 9
This is the first shot with my bronze / aluminum blaster and 3rd rocket pack!
Revision 10
Another recent change is the neck seal. I made a new one from tackle twill left over from my vest. The new one is sewn into the flight suit. No more awkward bits of fabric poking out, and no more forgetting to put it on! I also took in the sleeves a bit more, since they were too loose. The last change was velcro on the belly of the suit and inside of the ammo belt. This keeps it from slipping out of position. Revision 11A new helmet... this one cast aluminum! This was a short lived upgrade though. While it was impressive, it was heavier than I was happy with, so I only trooped in it 3-4 times. This troop also marked the debut of my newer, more screen accurate gloves.
Revision 12
Another new helmet. This one is a Master Replicas copy that had the warped visor fixed. The paint job was hurried as I had a tight deadline. The helmet was thin-walled, and the sturdiness questionable. I also went back to the older style of gloves here. Not as movie accurate, but more durable. They look the part perfectly, but are constructed very differently than the screen accurate ones. Revision 13
This is one of the biggest sets of changes between troops! I repainted all of the body armor, and went from the armore being attached to the vest with velcro to bolts and nuts. Also related to the armor, I finally added a smoked plastic screen behind the slots in the chest display. And to make the suit more Magic of Myth accurate, I filled the dent in the codpiece. I've also got an all new helmet. The MR copy from v.12 was replaced with another one, this time well constructed, and painted much, much more carefully. I'm really happy with the current state, but I'm sure it's going to be tweaked further!
