My primary trooping blaster is built off of a bronze Webley cast, with a custom made machined aluminum barrel. The Webley is shown here with a Hyperfirm EE3.
The barrel was made by ElvisTrooper, custom fit to the dimensions of the flare gun. It took a lot of modifying to make the Webley into the RotJ EE-3. The most significant part being hacking off the barrel!
The aluminum barrel is made of 2 pieces. The main barrel fits inside the bronze, and then a collar slips over the outside of it. Since the Webley is not 100% circular inside the barrel, some tuning was required to get a perfect fit. Once the fit was good, I coated the inside of the bronze with Goop and inserted the barrel. Once the goop was set, I put a few rivets through both the bronze and the aluminum (countersunk to avoid problems with the collar). I'm pretty confident that this barrel is NOT coming off. Ever.
Mounting the scope blocks was somewhat delicate. The front block was pre-set into the barrel. The rear block had to line up properly for a straight and centered scope. This was done by eye, looking down the barrel of the gun to see if it looked good. Once in position, the block was screwed into place. Cool tip regarding the rubber track: The ends of the fins are beveled. End nippers work GREAT for cutting it!
Rubber fins by blast-tech and stock greeblies from Sidewinder/TDH installed, it was time for primer and paint!
For the final paint, I did a base coat of satin black, then daubed on various shades of black through medium grey, giving it a mottled, weathered look. I then painted in small spots of rust here and there to try to match the movie relatively well.
